STEERING COMMITTEE

Our Steering Committee plays an instrumental role in developing the annual E-ATP Conference. Their experience, guidance, and expertise have helped to craft an agenda that best reflects the emerging trends in the European assessment community.

Chair E-ATP

Paul Muir, Head of Technology Enabled Assessment, The British Council

Paul is Head of Technology Enabled Assessment at the British Council and responsible for the British Council’s technology enabled assessment strategy and delivery of technology led assessment solutions in over 100 countries around the world and to over 4.5 million students a year. Joining the British Council in 2015, Paul has worked in the assessment industry for over 20 years, covering roles delivering education and curriculum reform projects across UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, to transformational roles at Awarding Bodies and Regulators in the UK.

Paul’s passion for enhancing access to education (globally) through the use of technology, especially where this is not always the ‘easy’ path is a focus of the last few years and something that has been accelerated due to Covid19. The networking, opportunities and challenge from peers provided by being a member of ATP is something that is invaluable to that vision and mission.

We look forward to seeing you at E-ATP and please do reach out via my LinkedIn page as I’m always keen to discuss how we can all work together to ensure the opportunities we develop and debate so passionately are indeed for the many and not the few.

Vice-Chair E-ATP

Tim Burnett, Community Consultant, Surpass

Tim’s mission is to build successful and thriving communities within the educational technology sector. One of the most successful communities that Tim has helped grow is the #SurpassCommunity. A highly respected network of assessment professionals from across the globe, who use the premier assessment platform, Surpass. In addition to this and his role with ATP, Tim also promotes best practice in technology-enabled testing as the Chair of the e-Assessment Association.

Tim’s career started following his graduation from Loughborough University in 2000 with a BSc in Industrial Design, along with qualified teacher status for secondary education. Since leaving university, education and the use of technology to enhance the process of learning and assessment have remained core to his activities and passions.

Over the years, Tim has had the opportunity to work with some of the most pivotal educational leaders such as the BBC, Channel 4, and the National Museum of Science & Industry, as well as having some geeky fun designing interactive online experiences for the James Bond franchise exhibition in 2004.

Tim is always keen to make new friends who share his passion for communities in education.
